Where nail extensions began in Mumbai
When Teresa Chen opened Glory in 1993, she brought something new to the city with her: nail extensions. More than 30 years on, Glory is still one of Mumbai's most trusted names for gel and acrylic extensions. The rest of the story is in our story.
Gel or acrylic: how to choose
Gel is the lighter system. It flexes a little and has a natural gloss. Acrylic is stronger and harder wearing, the better pick for real length or an elaborate design.
Either can be shaped almond, coffin, stiletto, square, oval or round, at the length you want.
What a full set involves
Your nails are prepared first. Then a tip or a form goes on, the extension is shaped, and it is finished the way you choose: a classic nude, one bold colour, French tips, ombre, chrome, glitter or nail art. Only professional-grade products are used.
Refills and removal
A set lasts two to three weeks. After that, come back for a refill or a fresh set. All three salons list refills in the same finishes as a new set.
Removal is a service of its own, with its own charge, and it needs to be done professionally at the salon, not at home, so that your natural nails are protected.
Nail art, gems and gel polish on extensions
A longer nail leaves more space for nail art, so extensions are a natural base for hand-painted designs, marble, foil and 3D work. Gems and charms can be added and sealed in, a nail piercing can carry a small ring near the tip, and gel polish works as a topcoat on gel or acrylic.
